Eligibility
Who Can Apply?
We offer three categories of scholarships to military family members: High School Senior, Continuing Education, and Spouse.
Eligibility varies by category as outlined below.
High School Senior
To be eligible for the High School Senior Scholarship, you must meet the following four criteria:
Have a valid military dependent identification card.
Meet one of the following criteria:
child of an active duty service member stationed at or within a 50-mile radius of JBLM OR
surviving child of a service member last assigned to JBLM OR
surviving child of a service member residing within a 50-mile radius of JBLM OR
child of a retired service member residing within a 50-mile radius of JBLM.
Be graduating from an accredited high school, or home school program, this academic year.
Have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (83%) or higher through the first semester of the current academic year or for the duration of high school if already graduated.
You are not eligible for the High School Senior Scholarship if:
You are currently serving on Active Duty.
You have accepted a full scholarship that covers tuition, fees, and room and board for your post-secondary education including, but not limited to: military academy appointment, ROTC, academic, or athletic scholarship.
You have completed high school and are currently enrolled at a post-secondary school (may be eligible for the Continuing Education Scholarship).
You are a prior recipient of a Fort Lewis Military Family Member Scholarship/Lewis-McChord Family Scholarship.
Continuing Education
To be eligible for the Continuing Education Scholarship, you must meet the following three criteria:
Have a valid military dependent identification card.
Meet one of the following criteria:
child of an active duty service member stationed at or within a 50-mile radius of JBLM OR
surviving child of a service member last assigned to JBLM OR
surviving child of a service member residing within a 50-mile radius of JBLM OR
child of a retired service member residing within a 50-mile radius of JBLM.
Be currently enrolled or pursuing enrollment at an accredited institution of higher learning.
You are not eligible for the Continuing Education Scholarship if:
You are currently serving on Active Duty.
You have accepted a full scholarship that covers tuition, fees, and room and board for your post-secondary education including, but not limited to: military academy appointment, ROTC, academic, or athletic scholarship.
You currently hold a bachelor's or master's degree.
You are currently a high school senior (may be eligible to apply for High School Senior Scholarship).
You are a prior recipient of a Fort Lewis Military Family Member Scholarship/Lewis-McChord Family Scholarship.
Spouse
To be eligible for the Spouse Scholarship, you must meet the following three criteria:
Have a valid military dependent identification card.
Meet one of the following criteria:
spouse of an active duty service member stationed at or within a 50-mile radius of JBLM OR
surviving spouse of a service member last assigned to JBLM OR
surviving spouse of a service member residing within a 50-mile radius of JBLM OR
spouse of a retired service member residing within a 50-mile radius of JBLM.
Be currently enrolled or pursuing enrollment at an accredited institution of higher learning.
You are not eligible for the Spouse Scholarship if:
You are currently serving on Active Duty.
You have accepted a full scholarship that covers tuition, fees, and room and board for your post-secondary education including, but not limited to: military academy appointment, ROTC, academic, or athletic scholarship.
You currently hold a bachelor's or master's degree.
You are pursuing a doctoral degree.
You are a prior recipient of a Fort Lewis Military Family Member Scholarship/Lewis-McChord Family Scholarship.
